A three-year Fairfax County police veteran was placed on leave after being charged with three domestic assault counts.

MCLEAN, VA — An off-duty Fairfax County police officer was placed on administrative leave after he was charged with three counts of domestic assault, Fairfax County police said.

Brandon Moore, 35, of McLean, was arrested Thursday night and charged with three counts of assault and battery against a family or household member. Moore is a three-year department veteran assigned to the McLean District Station, police said.

Officers were called to the 1600 block of Sunstone Drive around 9 p.m. after a woman reported that she was assaulted following an argument. Investigators learned of additional reported assaults during their investigation, according to police.

Detectives also obtained an Emergency Substantial Risk Order, which means a judge found probable cause that Moore's access to a gun creates a substantial risk of injury to himself or others. While the order is active, Moore cannot buy, possess or transport firearms, must surrender any concealed handgun permit, and must turn over firearms to police.

Moore remains on administrative leave while criminal and internal investigations continue.
