Child Found With Gun In Backpack After School Was Left At VA Airport Day Before: Report
A new report reveals more details on the March incident in which an Alexandria child in foster care was found to have a gun in his backpack.
ALEXANDRIA, VA – A child who was found to have a loaded gun in his backpack after school in March had been left by his mother at Reagan National Airport the day earlier, according to a new report.
ALX Now, citing court documents, reports that police say the eight-year-old child who was found to have a loaded gun in his backpack at a Child Protective Services office in Alexandria on March 3 had been left alone at Reagan National Airport by his mother, who was later arrested in the airport for larceny, credit card theft and assault.
The court documents suggest the child’s mother may have stashed the gun in his backpack, but video footage reportedly isn’t totally clear.

The child was taken into foster care after he was found at the airport and to the Samuel W. Tucker Elementary School the following day. After the school day was over, the gun was discovered by a social worker at the Child Protective Services Office at 4850 Mark Center Drive.
