Alexandria Man Charged With Felony Hit And Run Over June Crash

An Alexandria man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run accident on June 5.

ALEXANDRIA, VA – An Alexandria man now facing felony hit-and-run charges appears to have pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated in 2024.

Jelzon Garcia Gonzales of Alexandria was arrested on June 5 in connection with a hit-and-run crash on the 1700 block of Fern Street. ALX Now reports that the crash was between a Toyota Tacoma and a Honda CR-V, and that the Honda was totaled. The outlet reports that the Toyota fled the scene, but was found by officers later that day.

Garcia Gonzalez is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a revoked or suspended license and failure to yield. Leaving the scene of an accident is a felony. His next court date is August 25.

Garcia Gonzalez appears to have pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while intoxicated on drugs in 2024, and later that year was found guilty in absentia of failing to obey a traffic signal.
