Trial Begins For Alexandria Woman Accused Of Manslaughter After Fatal Metro Chase: Report

An Alexandria woman pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges stemming from a confrontation in the Potomac Yard Metro Station.

ALEXANDRIA, VA – An Alexandria woman has pleaded not guilty to charges brought over the death of a man prosecutors say was trying to flee a confrontation with her and her girlfriend when he was hit by a Metro train, according to a new report.

ALX Now reports that Jamayah Burch,19, pleaded not guilty to the charge of involuntary manslaughter. Her trial began on Monday and is scheduled to last five days.

According to the outlet, prosecutors are arguing that 40-year-old James Halley Lynt was trying to escape Burch and her 17-year-old girlfriend, who they say had been chasing and attacking him through the Potomac Yard Metro station for more than 15 minutes after he bumped into them. Lynt eventually jumped from the platform to the tracks and began walking when he was hit by a train. He died later that day.
