Ambulance hit by electrical pole while responding to Baron Cameron Avenue crash (ffxnow.com) — Baron Cameron Avenue at Bracknell Drive in Reston is closed in both directions after a two-car crash this morning sent one vehicle into a utility pole and left two drivers hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. A passing truck later snagged low-hanging wires, pulling the pole onto a Fairfax County ambulance, but firefighters still managed to free a trapped driver and clear the scene safely.
   

2. Community tip leads to 18 charges in Reston burglary investigation, police say (wjla.com) — Police say a community member's video tip helped Fairfax County detectives identify and arrest a man now facing 18 charges tied to a string of vehicle-related thefts and burglaries in Reston. Incidents were linked to Logan Manor Drive, Taliesin Place, Crescent Park Drive and Bowman Towne Drive, and investigators recovered a recently stolen rifle. The investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.
   

3. Some Fairfax Co. families furious about decision to cut high school crossing guards (wtop.com subscription) — Families in Reston are alarmed after Fairfax County cut funding for high school crossing guards, leaving busy South Lakes Drive by South Lakes High without coverage right after dismissal. Parents and a school board member describe near-misses and chaotic traffic, while supervisors now want issues identified and may set aside $400,000 to address safety at affected high schools.
   

4. Fairfax County leaders salute the impact, legacy of late state Sen. Janet Howell (ffxnow.com) — Local leaders are honoring the late state Sen. Janet Howell, who began her public life leading the Reston Community Association and went on to represent Reston in the Virginia Senate for more than three decades. Her work helped fund projects like the W&OD pedestrian bridge over Wiehle Avenue, and officials from both parties praised her bipartisan, community-focused legacy.
