Man critically injured in Richmond seafood shack shooting made it to firehouse, Crime Insider sources say (wtvr.com) — Richmond Police are investigating after a man, critically wounded in a shooting on Richmond Highway, managed to reach Fire Station 22 off Broad Rock Boulevard for help Saturday afternoon. He was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, and no suspect information has been released. Detectives are asking anyone with tips to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
   

2. 'Suck It Up, Buckle Up,' Mural on Richmond's south side promotes seatbelt safety (nbc12.com) — A new "Suck It Up, Buckle Up" mural on Richmond's Southside is urging drivers to slow down and wear seat belts, especially where usage rates lag. Drive Smart Virginia and local artist Hamilton Glass created the colorful piece on Hull Street as part of a broader campaign responding to data showing many fatal Richmond crashes involve unbuckled occupants.
   

3. Mayor Avula on Run Richmond 16.19: '1 in 4 African Americans can trace their roots to Richmond' (wtvr.com) — Richmond residents have a chance to literally run through 400 years of Black history when Run Richmond 16.19 returns on Sept. 12, tracing sites tied to slavery, Jim Crow, and civil rights. Mayor Danny Avula says the city's growing commitment to telling its full story, including new Shockoe and Jackson Ward landmarks, makes Richmond the right place for this reflective, community-focused event.
   

4. Richmond's Nepali community rallies for flood victims: 'Rise back up' (wtvr.com) — Members of Richmond's Nepali community gathered at Libbie Mill Library to mourn victims of the devastating August 26 floods along the Nepal-China border and raise money for relief. Local families shared emotional stories of loss and resilience while encouraging neighbors to support ongoing donations through the Nepali Community of Greater Richmond Virginia's online channels.
   

5. 757 meets 804 at League for Safer Streets championship as Hampton Roads and Richmond unite (wtkr.com) — Residents from Richmond's 804 and Hampton Roads' 757 packed Liberation Church off Midlothian Turnpike for the League for Safer Streets' ninth annual "Battle of 64" championship. Beyond the basketball, organizers and attendees focused on preventing violence, inspiring youth, and giving people a safe, positive space to connect. The league plans to keep growing its Richmond-centered movement.
