• Augusta County releases fire funds with Dooms amid standoff (newsleader.com) — Verona-area residents should know Augusta County supervisors have released $25,000 in grant money for new rescue equipment while still locked in a staffing-schedule dispute with the Dooms Volunteer Fire Company. The unresolved memorandum of understanding could eventually shift paid county firefighters away from the Dooms station, forcing the county to find alternative coverage for nearby communities including Crimora and New Hope.
