• Police: SUV passenger shot last night on I-66 near Vienna (ffxnow.com) — A passenger was injured by an apparent gunshot while riding in an SUV on eastbound I-66 near the Nutley Street interchange just outside Vienna Tuesday night, but their wounds are not life-threatening. Virginia State Police are still investigating and haven't released details about the shooter or the victim's age. Anyone who was driving that stretch of I-66 around 8:15 p.m. is asked to contact investigators with tips.
   

• Former Fairfax and DOJ prosecutor seeks to unseat Commonwealth's Attorney Steve Descano (ffxnow.com) — A Vienna-area resident and former Fairfax and federal prosecutor, Brittany Dunn-Pirio, is launching a primary challenge to Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney Steve Descano in 2027, arguing the office needs basic competence restored. Her campaign focuses on supporting victims, improving case handling, and balancing second chances with accountability, potentially reshaping how prosecutions affect Fairfax and nearby Vienna neighborhoods.
