PWC Man Who Fired Dozens Of Rounds At Homes With Small Children Inside Gets Harsh Sentence

A Triangle man convicted of drug, weapons and shooting offenses was given a long prison sentence on Thursday.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA – A Triangle man has been sentenced to more than 25 years in prison for dealing drugs and shooting into two homes with young children inside, the Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office announced.

Shaun Ross Minniefield, 28, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, two counts of possession of a firearm while possessing fentanyl and two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling. According to Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Amy Ashworth, he was sentenced on Thursday to serve 50 years in prison, with 33 years suspended.

Ashworth notes that the period of active incarceration Minniefield was sentenced to is more than four times higher than the high end of the Virginia Sentencing Guidelines for his offenses. Ashworth said the guidelines don’t account for the quantity of narcotics and other aggravating factors in the case.

According to prosecutors, a search of Minniefield’s Dumfries home in 2023 turned up more than 7,500 counterfeit M-30 Percocet pills which subsequently tested positive for fentanyl. Officers also found a firearm.

Minniefield was connected to two shootings at homes on Kenmar Drive and Lynhurst Drive in Woodbridge through the firearm recovered at his home and a search of his phone. Prosecutors say Minniefield has looked up whether air-pods can be used for hearing protection during a shooting and how to clean fingerprints off bullets.
