Woodbridge Man Drunkenly Tried To Steal Car With 3-Year-Old Inside: Police

A Woodbridge man is charged with attempted carjacking after repeatedly trying to enter a car with a three-year-old inside.

WOODBRIDGE, VA – A Woodbridge man has been arrested after police say he attempted to steal a car with a three-year-old inside it.

According to the Prince William County Police Department, officers responded to reports of an attempted carjacking on the 15000 block of Potomac Town Place in Woodbridge at 9:11 p.m. Friday. They say a 23-year-old man and a three-year-old child were in their vehicle when a man tried to open their car door. When the 23-year-old and a family member got out of the vehicle to confront the stranger, who appeared intoxicated, the stranger again tried to get into the car, where the young child was still sitting. He then left the area on foot, police say.

Antony Francisco Banegas, 32, of Woodbridge, was arrested the same night. He is charged with attempted carjacking, attempted abduction of a minor and public intoxication. His hearing is set for October 30.
