• Unexpected storm, broken leg strand climbers on Mount Shuksan, leading to harrowing rescue (cascadiadaily.com) — Bellevue resident Justin Dempster, who coordinates mountain recreation programs for people with disabilities at a Bellevue nonprofit, is recovering after a dramatic helicopter rescue from Mount Shuksan. A storm, damaged rope, and a broken leg turned a routine descent into a 10‑hour mission involving Bellingham Mountain Rescue and Navy crews, leaving him sidelined from climbing for months.
   

• Emma Jimenez Palos Earns Silver in Individual Pursuit… (usacycling.org) — Bellevue cyclist Rue Tomko represented Jerry Baker Juniors at the UCI Junior Track World Championships, scoring points in the women's Points Race and finishing 12th overall. She'll team up tomorrow with multi‑medalist Emma Jimenez Palos for the Madison, capping a strong showing for the U.S. squad on the track.
   

• T-Mobile Thwarts China-Linked 'Salt Typhoon' Breach With an Unusual Fix (visiontimes.com) — T-Mobile security staff ultimately stopped a China-linked hacking campaign by driving to a Bellevue data center and physically cutting a compromised cable, then memorializing the snipped wire at the company's Bellevue headquarters. The breach was part of a broader 'Salt Typhoon' espionage effort that hit telecom networks worldwide, but T-Mobile says customer calls and texts were not accessed. Authorities warn similar threats remain active.
