📰 News we're reading

1. Sammamish and Renton Bus Trip (seattletransitblog.com) — A transit enthusiast spends a day riding new and existing bus routes into Sammamish and especially through the Renton Highlands, Renton Technical College, and downtown Renton, sharing timings, ridership, and walkability impressions. If you rely on buses, you'll find specific notes on routes 105, 106, 111 and how they connect neighborhoods, parks, and the Renton Transit Center after the latest service changes.

2. Renton Police seek help to ID man who reportedly exposed himself (rentonreporter.com) — Renton police are asking residents to help identify a man who allegedly exposed and pleasured himself outside a downtown business on Sept. 2 in the 200 block of Williams Avenue South. Officers couldn't find him after he fled, so anyone who recognizes the man in the released photo is urged to contact Sgt. Thielman and reference case #26-6804.

3. Seahawks sign Bobby Hart, release 'Hard Knocks' fan favorite (kiro7.com) — From their Renton headquarters, the Seahawks have added veteran offensive tackle Bobby Hart to the practice squad just days before the season opener, while releasing 'Hard Knocks' favorite Uso Seumalo. The move tweaks depth on the offensive line as Seattle prepares to host the New England Patriots at Lumen Field on Sept. 9.

4. 'You knew what you were selling': Federal Way man sentenced to 9 years in fentanyl conspiracy (mynorthwest.com) — A large federal fentanyl-trafficking case tied to a Seattle-area gang has led to multiple prison sentences, including 70 months for 22-year-old Robert Johnson of Renton. Prosecutors say the family-run ring moved hundreds of thousands of pills across several states, and more alleged leaders are set for trial in 2027 after major drug and cash seizures.

5. Pierce County moves to block new ICE detention centers (knkx.org) — Pierce County is poised to extend its temporary ban on new or expanded detention centers, mirroring moratoriums already passed in Renton and other nearby jurisdictions. For Renton residents, it's another sign that local governments around the region are rethinking where and how immigration and other detention facilities can be built, with long-term zoning changes and public input still ahead.
