• Mass teen fight prompts increased police activity in Pierce County city (thenewstribune.com) — After a fight involving 30 to 40 teenagers at a bus stop on 40th St. W., police are stepping up their presence around after-school hangouts in University Place. Deputies say ongoing issues like shoplifting, vandalism, and fights have prompted more patrols, and they're urging parents to talk with their kids while asking anyone with information about the brawl to contact investigators. 
• The Traffic Stop Failed. Dash Cam Footage Built the 107-MPH Case Anyway. (theautowire.com) — Two 25-year-olds were arrested after allegedly racing at 107 mph in a 35-mph zone on Bridgeport Way West in University Place, with their own dash cam footage helping deputies build the case. The story explains how Washington law lets officers seize in-car video and how new state rules will increasingly use vehicle data and speed limiters to punish reckless driving.
• 2 more suspects arrested in Chelan Hills Fire (thenewstribune.com) — A 19-year-old from University Place is among three young men now in custody in connection with the deadly Chelan Hills Fire, which burned nearly 10,000 acres and destroyed homes in July. All three appeared in court by video, had bail set at $1 million, and face potential manslaughter, arson, and assault charges as investigators continue searching for two more suspects.
