1. Upshur officials oppose transmission line project (theintermountain.com) — From Buckhannon, Upshur County commissioners and Sen. Bill Hamilton are publicly opposing a massive 260-mile Valley North transmission line that would cross Upshur and nearby counties. They’ve passed a resolution, shared mapping tools, and urged residents to review the proposed route and submit comments, citing concerns over property rights, farm productivity, health, environment and the fact the power would largely serve other states.
   

2. Upshur County flood recovery efforts continue in Buckhannon (wvnews.com) — Flood recovery work is still underway across Buckhannon and Upshur County, with agencies coordinating debris removal, donations and emergency assistance after recent flooding. Residents are urged to place damaged materials at the edge of their property, donate high-demand items like fans and dehumidifiers, and complete local surveys to request help or register as volunteers while officials await further FEMA guidance.
   

3. West Virginia Habitat for Humanity transports donations to flood zones (wowktv.com) — Donations gathered by Habitat for Humanity of the Tri-State are being trucked to flood-damaged communities including the Weston–Buckhannon area in Lewis and Upshur counties. Habitat for Humanity of Buckhannon will handle distributing pallets of cleaning supplies and other essentials to those hit hardest, as regional volunteers continue stepping up weeks after the severe flooding.
   

4. Minutemen ‘answer the call' after flooding (wvnews.com) — Lewis County’s Minutemen football team has been volunteering in flood recovery, and support has reached into Buckhannon as Philip Barbour’s coach delivered supplies to Buckhannon-Upshur High School. Players have helped staff donation hubs, clean businesses and set up a church relief kitchen, even as some teammates recover from their own storm damage and prepare to resume football practices.
