1. Bridge club donates in honor of member (theintermountain.com) ā At the Randolph County Senior Center in Elkins, bridge club members honored their late friend Jane Lawson with a $350 donation to support activities and, hopefully, a sturdier coffee maker. Lawsonās granddaughter joined the group to share memories of how much bridge, friendship, and the Senior Center community meant to her, before everyone sat down for another game in her spirit.

2. Randolph BOE may seek help with superintendent search (theintermountain.com) ā Elkins-area families should know the Randolph County Board of Education will decide Tuesday whether to hire the West Virginia School Board Association to run the search for a new superintendent. With an interim leader in place only through June 30 and state law requiring a superintendent contract by June 1, the board is weighing a structured, fast-moving process for advertising, applications, and interviews.

3. Davis Medical Center plans transition to Critical Access Hospital, will continue labor and delivery (mybuckhannon.com) ā Davis Medical Center in Elkins plans to convert from an acute care hospital to a Critical Access Hospital, a move leaders say will stabilize finances while keeping key services in place. Labor and delivery, emergency care, and specialty clinics are expected to continue, though the hospital will close its home health program and work with other providers to transition patients and staff.

4. Sankofa: From Africa to Appalachia exhibit opens Friday at WVWC (mybuckhannon.com) ā An Elkins-based percussionist, Khalil Woodward, will help lead a drum circle as part of the new āSankofa: From Africa to Appalachiaā exhibit opening tonight at West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon. The show explores West African musical traditions, runs by appointment through May 15, and offers hands-on rhythm experiences for Appalachian participants.
