MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee’s Fourth of July celebrations are set for Saturday, July 4, with parades, picnics, games, talent contests and fireworks planned across the city.

The city’s Fourth of July festivities date back to 1911, according to the Milwaukee Fourth of July Commission. This year’s theme is “America 250: The Power of We.”

Parades are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., with fireworks planned for 9:15 p.m. at several Milwaukee County parks, according to the city.

Fireworks are planned at the following parks:

Alcott Park, 3751 S. 97th St.

Gordon Park, 2828 N. Humboldt Blvd.

Humboldt Park, 3000 S. Howell Ave.

Jackson Park, 3500 W. Forest Home Ave.

Lake Park, 3233 E. Kenwood Blvd.

Lincoln Park, 1301 W. Hampton Ave.

Washington Park, 1859 N. 40th St.

Wilson Park, 1601 W. Howard Ave.

Daytime activities are also planned at several parks, including Alcott Park, Enderis Playfield, Gordon Park, Humboldt Park, King Community Center, Lake Park, Lyons Park, Mitchell Park and Wilson Park.

City officials reminded residents that fireworks are illegal in the city of Milwaukee, except for official displays.

Milwaukee County’s separate lakefront drone show is scheduled for Friday, July 3, at McKinley Beach and McKinley Park. The drone show is set to begin at 9:15 p.m. and last about 45 minutes.
