Located on Coliseum Parkway, the 42-acre zoo and Mann Wildlife Learning Museum continue regular hours and posted admission prices while promising a more welcoming experience for River Region visitors.

ACTION 8 UPDATE: Montgomery Whitewater announces closure for season (waka.com) — Montgomery residents are facing the sudden seasonal closure of Montgomery Whitewater, which halts all activities from rafting to trails while county commissioners question ongoing public funding. As officials prepare to vote Tuesday on the county's $183 million budget, an audit of the park's finances is underway and future announcements about the attraction are expected before year's end.
   

3. Two people injured in two Montgomery shootings (waka.com) — Montgomery police are investigating two overnight shootings that left a man critically injured and a woman with non-life-threatening wounds at separate locations across the city. Officers say one shooting happened near Charlie Brassell Place off Wares Ferry Road, while the other occurred on Vaughn Road near Twin Oaks Shopping Center, and no further details have been released yet.
   

4. Salvation Army remembers 9/11 attacks with luncheon for local first responders (waka.com) — In Montgomery, the local Salvation Army marked the 9/11 anniversary by serving more than 100 free to-go lunches to police, firefighters, and EMS crews. First responders were invited to swing by the Carter Hill Road headquarters during lunch hour, letting them grab meals for themselves and colleagues while staying on duty around the Capital City.

Housing and dining costs are also rising, with officials citing inflation and campus maintenance needs, meaning Montgomery families should prepare now for higher overall college expenses.
