• Turkey Creek grows beyond 1,000 acres, preserving land for future generations (abc3340.com) — Pinson’s Turkey Creek Nature Preserve just expanded by 328 acres, pushing the protected area beyond 1,000 acres and safeguarding key habitat right in the community’s backyard. The Forever Wild-funded purchase will allow more trails, better access and long-term protection for rare species like the Vermilion Darter, giving Pinson families more space to hike, swim and enjoy nature for generations.
   

• Clay-Chalkville football preview (cbs42.com) — Clay-Chalkville’s defending state champion football team is dropping to Class 5A and will share a new Region 6 with rivals including Pinson Valley, Oxford, Pell City, Southside-Gadsden, Springville and St. Clair County. With a new quarterback, a dominant defensive front and a new home stadium coming online, the Cougars expect another deep playoff run that will bring them back into regular competition with Pinson fans’ home team.
