• State Board of Education Meeting in August 2026 (laniercountynewsonline.com) — A major two-day State Board of Education meeting is coming to the Georgia School for the Deaf in Cave Spring on August 19–20, giving locals a rare chance to attend a statewide education session close to home. Committees will meet Wednesday, followed by the full board Thursday, including a public hearing on school facilities, early literacy and dyslexia rules, promotion and retention, and student testing programs.
