Convictions Upheld For Buhl Man Found With More Than 100 CSAM Images

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals has upheld the convictions of a 67-year-old Buhl man found with more than 100 images of child sexual abuse material.

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall announced Tuesday that the appeals court affirmed the convictions of Dennis Dudley Wright, who Patch reported was convicted Oct. 1, 2025, in Tuscaloosa County Circuit Court of charges related to the possession and dissemination of child sexual abuse material.

As Patch previously reported during the trial, the investigation began after an image depicting child sexual abuse material was posted to Pinterest on Dec. 11, 2022.

Pinterest reported the image to law enforcement, and investigators traced the IP address associated with the post to Wright.

Investigators also determined the username used to post the image was associated with Wright’s email address.

Police subsequently seized electronic devices from Wright’s home, where a forensic examination uncovered more than 100 images depicting children who investigators believed ranged in age from approximately 9 to 14.

Investigators also reported finding a child-sized silicone sex doll dressed in lingerie and locked inside a closet in Wright’s bedroom, pictures of which were shown to the jury during the trial.

Wright later admitted to investigators that he possessed numerous images of child sexual abuse material.

Assistant District Attorney Thomas Marshall prosecuted the case for Tuscaloosa County District Attorney Hays Webb’s office and secured the guilty verdict.

As Patch previously reported, Wright was sentenced to 10 years in prison on his possession convictions and 18 years for his dissemination conviction. He subsequently appealed, seeking to have the convictions reversed.

Alabama Department of Corrections records show Wright is serving out his sentence in the Kilby Correctional Facility in Montgomery, with a his earliest expected release date set for Jan. 29, 2033.

The Alabama Attorney General’s Criminal Appeals Division represented the state during the appellate proceedings and argued that Wright’s convictions should stand.

The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed the convictions in a decision issued Friday, Aug. 14.

Marshall commended Assistant Attorney General Stephen N. Dodd for handling the appeal and thanked Webb and his staff for their work prosecuting the case.
