Poole, an attorney, represented Harrison Construction through his law practice before beginning his public service career in 2010.

“Joining the Harrison team allows me to use my legal, financial, governmental and executive management experience to help grow the company’s footprint and portfolio,” Poole said.

Poole will also serve as an operating partner with Birmingham-based private equity firm Accelerated Partners, working to identify and grow private companies across the Southeast.

In addition, Poole announced plans to launch Poole Growth Strategies, an independent consulting firm focused on areas including fiscal management, economic development, education policy, public policy, capital formation and public-private partnerships.

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey announced Poole’s departure as state finance director last week.

He had served as Alabama’s chief financial officer and head of the Department of Finance since 2021. Before joining the Ivey administration, Poole represented the Tuscaloosa area for more than a decade in the Alabama House of Representatives.

Poole said he plans to continue serving as chairman of the Innovate Alabama Board of Directors, subject to future governmental approvals and appointments.

“I don't view my next chapter as leaving public service so much as changing the way I contribute,” Poole said.
