Driver flees after hitting, killing man in midtown Phoenix (azfamily.com) — A man was fatally struck by a white SUV or truck Tuesday evening near 5th Avenue and Indian School Road in midtown Phoenix, and the driver fled the scene. Police closed Indian School between 3rd and 7th avenues for hours and are asking anyone with information to contact Phoenix Police or Silent Witness immediately.
   

2. New tunnel opens in Kingman as Phoenix-Vegas route project hits major milestone (thestandardnewspaper.online) — If you drive between Phoenix and Las Vegas, your trips should soon get smoother thanks to a major new tunnel opening in Kingman on the I-40/US 93 interchange project. With construction now 80% complete, ADOT is building free-flow ramps to remove a key traffic signal while keeping access open to local Kingman businesses and Route 66 during ongoing lane restrictions.
   

3. Arizona Lottery Mega Millions, Pick 3 Evening results for Sept. 8, 2026 (azcentral.com) — Phoenix lottery players can now check the latest Mega Millions, Pick 3, Fantasy 5, and Triple Twist results, plus see exactly where in town to claim larger prizes. The Arizona Lottery's Phoenix offices, including Sky Harbor, can cash substantial winnings and outline what you'll need to bring so you're ready if your ticket hits.
   

4. Some Arizona police chiefs push back on removal of license plate readers (azfamily.com) — Police and city leaders across Arizona, in a story datelined Phoenix, are debating whether to remove license plate reader cameras amid privacy and misuse concerns. Some chiefs argue the Flock cameras are vital for solving crimes and finding missing people, while others have already pulled them down and may reconsider only after stronger data protections are in place.
