Driver dies after being ejected from crash in north Phoenix (azfamily.com) — A man died and three others, including two children, were injured after a wrong-way crash Thursday evening near Cave Creek and Beardsley roads in north Phoenix, just south of Loop 101. Phoenix police say the man was ejected from his vehicle and later died at the hospital, while the woman and children in the other car are expected to survive as investigators review whether impairment played a role.
   

2. Man convicted of shooting PHX officer Tyler Moldovan requests new trial (abc15.com) — A man convicted of shooting Phoenix Police Officer Tyler Moldovan in 2021 is now seeking a new trial in Maricopa County Superior Court. Jurors had just found him guilty of attempted murder and aggravated assault, after an incident near 19th Avenue and Camelback Road in Phoenix. It's unclear how this last-minute motion could affect the upcoming sentencing phase.
   

3. 'Good to be alive': Man reunites with passengers who saved his life during flight to Phoenix (12news.com) — A man who went into cardiac arrest on a flight to Phoenix just reunited at Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital with the flight attendant and two nurses who kept him alive with CPR. Their quick actions, now praised by his surgeons, are inspiring Phoenix-area residents to consider CPR training as a way to potentially save neighbors, friends, or fellow travelers.
   

4. Arizona adds jobs in July, outpacing US growth (abc15.com subscription) — Arizona added 2,300 jobs in July and now has more than 24,000 additional positions compared with last year, with experts noting Phoenix-area price increases are running slower than the national average. Healthcare and white-collar fields are driving much of the growth, but a shrinking labor force and job losses in hospitality, government, and finance could still affect Phoenix workers.
