Oakland Rapper Mistah F.A.B. Charged In Illegal Fireworks Investigation: Reports

OAKLAND, CA — Oakland rapper and community activist Mistah F.A.B. was charged Friday in connection with an illegal fireworks investigation, according to multiple news reports.

Mistah F.A.B., whose legal name is Stanley Cox, was charged by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office with two misdemeanor counts of possessing dangerous fireworks without a permit and one misdemeanor count of receiving stolen property, according to a San Francisco Chronicle report.

The probe into the rapper appeared to begin after he posted on social media for the Fourth of July, featuring himself with several boxes of fireworks, according to NBC News.

A second video posted later appears to show the rapper trying to distance himself from the fireworks, according to NBC News.

The Oakland Police Department served warrants at multiple locations tied to the rapper and found two guns, including one that was stolen, and multiple boxes of fireworks, according to multiple news reports.

It's unclear whether the rapper has submitted a plea. He was due to be arraigned in court on Friday.

The "Still Feelin' It" rapper is well regarded in Oakland for his music and work in the community.

As an artist, he helped define Oakland's sounds.

As a community leader, he's collaborated with Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee for a children's reading program and created mental health forums called "Thug Therapy" aimed at inspiring young men of color to open up about their struggles, according to NBC News.
