Search Ongoing For Motorist Who Killed RivCo Motorcyclist In Collision

RIVERSIDE, CA — Riverside police were continuing Friday to work on identifying the hit-and-run driver involved in a deadly collision with a motorcyclist.

Steven Pingrey, 59, of Riverside was killed at 1:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Cranford Avenue and West Linden Street, according to the Riverside Police Department.

"The investigation is ongoing, and no arrest has been made yet," Detective Steve Espinosa told City News Service Friday.

He was unable to provide any further details, including whether investigators had narrowed the type of vehicle that crashed into Pingrey.

The Major Accident Investigation Team said that Pingrey was westbound on Linden at an unconfirmed speed when the driver of a vehicle coming from the opposite direction veered into the victim's motorcycle, triggering a collision.

The motorist sped away from the location, where witnesses stopped to call 911, police said.

Paramedics pronounced Pingrey dead at the scene minutes later.
