Reward Offered To Find Killer Who Shot Aspiring Rapper In Berkeley

BERKELEY, CA — Police are appealing to the public for help solving the murder of an aspiring rapper who was found shot to death in Berkeley ten years ago.

The Berkeley Police Department said Wednesday marked the anniversary of the death of Alex Goodwin Jr.

"Ten years later, detectives continue to investigate this case and believe there are individuals who may have information that could help bring those responsible to justice," the Berkeley Police Department said. "Even the smallest detail could prove critical to solving this case."

A $50,000 reward is still being offered for anyone who can point investigators to Goodwin Jr.'s slaying.

Goodwin Jr. was shot outside his grandmother's home in the San Pablo Park neighborhood just before midnight on Aug. 18, 2016, according to the authorities.

The 22-year-old died hours later at the hospital, authorities said.

The Berkeley Police Department asks that anyone with more information on the case contact the agency at 510-981-5741.

"Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could be the key to solving this case," police said.
