UC Berkeley Student Hospitalized After Crash On Telegraph Avenue: Report

BERKELEY, CA — A UC Berkeley student was hospitalized in critical condition after being hit by a car off-campus Friday evening, according to a report by The Daily Californian.

The 20-year-old student was crossing a dimly lit area of Telegraph Avenue at Carleton Street sometime around 10 p.m. when he was struck by a 64-year-old driver traveling southbound, according to the report.

The woman stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to the report, which added that police said alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash.

The crash shut down the intersection for at least a few hours, with police saying in a statement on Friday that the incident involved "significant injuries."

The student remained hospitalized as of Monday morning, according to the report. The extent of his injuries remains unclear.
