2. Lost Cross Family Monument Reinstalled in Citrus Heights (citrusheightsmessenger.com) — A once-lost monument and hitching post honoring the Cross Family has been rediscovered and reinstalled in the Crosswoods neighborhood of Citrus Heights, now standing near the HOA office on Crosswoods Circle. After residents unearthed the fallen stone, city crews helped move and reunite it with the hitching post, preserving a familiar landmark and a tangible piece of local history for longtime neighbors.
3. Station Coffee Roasters Café Moves Toward Completion (citrusheightsmessenger.com) — A long-anticipated new coffee spot is nearly ready to open on Mariposa Avenue in one of Citrus Heights' historic business districts, with construction, parking, and signage largely complete. Station Coffee Roasters plans to roast beans on-site, offer classic espresso drinks, light bites, and subscriptions, giving residents a fresh local option beyond its current online and vendor-fair presence.
4. Fatal Highway 50 shooting closes freeway, snarls Citrus Heights traffic (citrusheightssentinel.com) — Overnight police activity on Highway 50 led to a fatal officer-involved shooting and hours-long freeway closure that pushed heavy traffic onto Citrus Heights surface streets. Routes like Sunrise Boulevard, San Juan Avenue, and westbound I-80 through Citrus Heights were congested as drivers sought detours, while multiple agencies, including Citrus Heights Police, assisted California Highway Patrol's ongoing investigation.
5. Healdsburg jewelry store burglary suspect arrested near Sacramento (nbcbayarea.com) — A burglary suspect wanted for stealing thousands in jewelry from a Healdsburg store was arrested in Citrus Heights after fleeing from a vehicle. Healdsburg officers, working with Citrus Heights Police, used license plate data, surveillance footage, and search warrants to track him down. The suspect, who allegedly had multiple outstanding felony warrants, is being held without bail.
