• Sheriff's K‑9 injured in Escondido burglary suspect confrontation (sandiegocountynews.com) — An early-morning burglary call on South Orange Street in Escondido led to a violent confrontation in which Sheriff's K‑9 Nike was stabbed several times in the face while helping officers arrest a suspect. Veterinarians in nearby San Marcos stitched his wounds, and he's now recovering at home. The suspect was booked on multiple charges as the investigation continues.
   

• Vehicle Hits Bicyclist in Escondido, Flees Scene (patch.com) — Escondido police are asking for your help finding a light-colored SUV that hit a 27-year-old bicyclist at Washington Avenue and Ash Street Saturday night, leaving him with life-threatening injuries. Investigators say the driver turned right, struck the cyclist in the crosswalk, and kept going north on Ash. Anyone who saw anything is urged to call Escondido police.
