Liz brings new ideas and new revenues to help lead the county. She is fighting to improve public safety in Alameda County that has the highest crime rate overall, double the state average and one of the highest sales taxes in the state.

She is known as a fiscal hawk with a focus on good budgetary and financial policies. She is a staunch supporter of public safety, safe and clean streets and protecting our environment. She will advocate to build a section of the Niles Canyon Trail to protect vehicle conflicts with pedestrians and cyclists as part of a Save Our Hills initiative in 2009. Liz will also seek similar trail developments in Fremont.

There are safety and financial concerns in Alameda County. A passthrough, State Route 84, connects to Quarry Lakes Parkway (East-West connector) and brings vehicles/trucks/elite housing into our hills, eliminates Ramirez Farm, passes by Union City BART and connects to I-880/Decoto Road in Fremont. Decades behind schedule, Quarry Lakes Parkway /East-West Connector will cost nearly $1 billion using local and county transportation taxes, accounting for inflation and tariffs.

Developers will advertise Quarry Lakes Parkway as the highway connector as easy access to Niles Canyon SR 84, Mission Boulevard, I-880 and to severe and high fire-hazard areas within the Fremont/Union City Hills. A poor choice that compromises our watershed and is a public safety concern.

Our east bay hills are designated as very high and high fire hazard severity zones by the City of Fremont and the State Fire Marshal respectively. Liz will advocate investing in reducing the wildfire risk, protecting the watershed and support infrastructure to prevent damage from wind-driven wildfires.

Liz will advocate for safe and clean streets using local and county transportation taxes to create more vibrant community and downtown street experiences.

Liz will prioritize economic development, apprenticeships for manufacturing and high-tech jobs to train our workforce. A trained workforce attracts new employers and brings in new revenues to our communities to support county and city services. She will prioritize for affordable workforce housing.
