Fremont Students Bring Joy and Connection to Seniors Through Multilingual Performances

Smiles filled the room as a group of Fremont students sat alongside seniors, turning a simple performance into a moment of genuine connection.

Through their program, Hearts & Harmony, six Fremont Unified students bring multilingual performances, games, and conversation to senior communities across the Bay Area. Beyond performing, the students spend time engaging personally with seniors, creating meaningful interactions that many residents look forward to.

Created by Mahi Kumar, Sonal Singh, Ria Sompura, Raina Shah, Krisha Shah, and Anshika Jain, the group has already reached 400+ seniors, shared 200+ handmade calming tools, and has 5+ more performances scheduled.

The impact has been clear in the response from senior communities. One partner shared, “The seniors truly enjoyed it, and we would love to invite them back again.”

What began as a small student initiative has grown into a program focused on bringing joy, comfort, and human connection to older adults.
