Part Of Madeira Park To Become Low-Water Garden

The community is invited to help convert a portion of the park into a low-water landscape.

LIVERMORE, CA — The Livermore community is invited to help transform a portion of Madeira Park into a water-wise garden for Earth Day.

Tri-Valley residents will join representatives from the city of Livermore and the Zone 7 Water Agency to gain hands-on experience in:

  • Removing lawn using the sheet mulching method
  • Converting a traditional sprinkler system into an efficient drip irrigation system
  • Water-wise gardening techniques
  • Available water conservation rebates and resources

City landscaping staff will guide participants step by step. The event will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Madeira Park on 4th and School Street in Livermore. It is free and open to all Tri-Valley residents, regardless of age or experience.

Snacks, drinks, tools, and materials will be provided. Attendees must wear comfortable work clothing and close-toed shoes, and are advised to bring gardening gloves, sunscreen, a hat, and a reusable water bottle.
