Motorcyclist Shot On 215 Freeway In Murrieta, Offramp Shut Down: CHP

The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance in unknown condition.

MURRIETA, CA — Authorities are searching for the person who shot a motorcyclist on the 215 Freeway early Thursday morning, prompting officers to temporarily shut southbound lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The shooting was reported around 12:30 a.m. after a 34-year-old Murrieta resident was shot in the leg as he was riding his 2021 grey motorcycle southbound on the Interstate 215 near Clinton Keith Road. The man was able to stop his motorcycle on the shoulder after he was shot and went to a local business to ask for help, said CHP spokesman Officer Brian Seel.

The man was transported to a local hospital by ground ambulance in unknown condition.

The California Highway Patrol closed the southbound 215 Freeway from Scott Road to Clinton Keith Road to conduct an investigation. As of 7:40 a.m. all southbound lanes were re-opened, however, the southbound Clinton Keith Road offramp will remain closed as authorities continue their investigation.

Authorities did not have a description of a suspect or vehicle involved in the shooting.
