• In 2013, California transformed a deadly stretch of Highway 1 into a scenic cliffside trail; over a decade later, SamTrans Route 117 is still the ultimate $2 transit hack to bypass weekend parking gri (secretsanfrancisco.com) — If you're in Pacifica and want to enjoy Devil's Slide without fighting for parking, SamTrans Route 117 offers a cheap, direct bus from Linda Mar Park & Ride through the Tom Lantos Tunnels to the trailhead. Buses run roughly hourly, fares are just over $2 each way, and a day pass is available, making spontaneous weekend hikes much easier for local residents.
