• Pleasant Hill's Massive New Japanese Marketplace Will Open Imminently, Has Begun Hiring Bay Area Telegraph (bayareatelegraph.com) — Pleasant Hill's long-awaited Osaka Marketplace is finally moving toward opening, with the company now hiring for all positions at its massive new store in the former Orchard Supply Hardware space downtown. While no opening date is set yet, the 42,000-square-foot Japanese grocery and food hall is listed as "coming soon" and is expected to draw shoppers from across Central Contra Costa County once doors open.
   

• Pleasant Hill Chamber partnership expands HR resources for local businesses (contracostaherald.com) — Pleasant Hill businesses are getting a big boost in HR support through a new partnership between the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce and the HR Executive Compliance Council, including a free year of council membership for Chamber members. The collaboration aims to position Pleasant Hill as a regional hub for business education, capped by a full-day California employment-law update event at National University in Pleasant Hill on January 27, 2027.
   

• Brentwood man charged with killing his employee at Pleasant Hill pizza restaurant (mercurynews.com) — A Pleasant Hill pizzeria partner is heading to trial Oct. 12, accused of fatally shooting an employee outside My Pizza Way after a long-running dispute. Prosecutors say the 2022 shooting on Pleasant Hill Boulevard led to the worker's death months later, while the defense plans a self-defense argument and the victim's family pursues a separate negligence lawsuit.
