1. Tri-Valley Giving Campaign Gets A Dolly Parton Twist (patch.com) — Pleasanton residents are being invited to take part in the 925 Gives online fundraising drive, which returns Sept. 25 with a Dolly Parton-inspired "9 to 5" twist. The Three Valleys Community Foundation will award $925 to the nonprofit that attracts the most unique donors during workday hours, encouraging locals to support dozens of Tri-Valley organizations in Dolly's philanthropic spirit.

2. Pleasanton Weighs $16.5M In Bonds For Water-System Upgrades (patch.com) — Pleasanton officials are weighing up to $16.5 million in new water revenue bonds to fund projects like new wells with Zone 7, advanced meters, and emergency power upgrades. If approved, the borrowing would be repaid through customers' water bills and comes alongside four years of planned rate hikes, as the city adapts to PFAS-related well closures and aging infrastructure.

3. Robot traverses sidewalks, streets in Pleasanton to assess accessibility, safety (pleasantonweekly.com) — Small Daxbot robots are currently rolling along Pleasanton sidewalks and streets to map sidewalk conditions, curb ramps, intersections, and transit stops as part of the city's ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan. Working with an engineering consultant, Pleasanton aims to assess roughly 360 miles of pedestrian routes, using the data to prioritize future accessibility and safety improvements while assuring residents that only infrastructure, not personal information, is collected.

4. Amador flag football team building momentum in 2026 (pleasantonweekly.com) — Amador Valley High's flag football team is off to a strong 10-2 start, powered by veteran quarterback Riley Harrington and a stingy defense, as they gear up for a tough EBAL schedule. Foothill's volleyball squad is also rolling, stacking league wins and a strong Bay Area Classic showing, giving Pleasanton fans plenty to cheer about this fall.

5. 'Nearly 100% fatal' disease on the rise across US. What are risks in California? (hanfordsentinel.com) — Rabies cases are rising nationwide and across California, including a confirmed rabid domestic cat in Pleasanton earlier this summer. Health officials urge residents to avoid wild animals, watch pets for unusual behavior, and seek immediate medical advice if bitten or scratched, since prompt vaccination after exposure is nearly 100% effective at preventing this otherwise almost always fatal disease.
