San Diego's Top Doctors: The Annual List, 2026 (sandiegomagazine.com) — Several Poway-based clinics and specialists, including Neighborhood Healthcare on Poway Road and Palomar Health Medical Group on Pomerado Road, are highlighted among San Diego County's 2026 Top Doctors. The extensive list, built from peer nominations and license checks, helps Poway residents quickly find highly regarded physicians across family medicine, pediatrics, gastroenterology, orthopedics, eye care, and more.
   

2. SDG&E power shutoffs start; could affect thousands of customers as temperatures soar (timesofsandiego.com) — Poway is among the largest cities that could lose electricity in SDG&E's Public Safety Power Shutoffs now underway through Monday evening, as extreme heat and Santa Ana winds raise wildfire risk. Nearly 35,000 customers across the county may be affected, with resource centers, outage maps, and 211 San Diego available to help residents manage potential multi-day disruptions.
   

3. ABC San Diego Sets 2026 Local Craft Championships (constructionowners.com) — A major skilled-trades competition is coming to Poway on November 7, when ABC San Diego hosts its 2026 Local Craft Championships at its Kirkham Way training facility. Residents can drop in for free between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to watch local apprentices compete in electrical, plumbing, pipefitting, and sheet metal, with winners advancing to a national championship.
   

4. Poway karate athlete wins gold at 2026 Pan American Championships (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Poway is home to a new Pan American karate champion: 14-year-old Natalie Goodwin, who captured gold in individual kata at the 2026 Junior Pan American Championships in Costa Rica. Training out of Tozaki Karate Training in nearby Sabre Springs, she and teammate Kantaro Kusano credit years of intense practice and coaching for their breakthrough international performances.
