• Redondo Beach King Harbor sign to be replaced this fall (dailybreeze.com) — Redondo Beach is moving ahead with a full replacement of the iconic King Harbor gateway sign, with work starting this month and expected to finish by November. The new version keeps the familiar arch and blue poles but updates the logo, lettering, and lighting for safety and durability. Some residents want to preserve its old-school character, and a group is even pursuing state landmark status for the sign.
   

• Ocean Water Warnings Issued at 9 LA County Beaches as Heat Rises (mynewsla.com) — Health officials are warning swimmers to avoid the ocean near the Redondo Beach Pier and the Avenue I storm drain after tests found elevated bacteria levels, along with several other LA County spots. The advisory covers 100 yards up and down the coast from each location until water quality improves. Residents can check the county's beach hotline or website for updated conditions before heading out.
