Pudu Fawn, World's Smallest Deer, Born At San Diego Zoo Safari Park
The newborn is now visible to visitors alongside her mother at the Safari Park in Escondido.
ESCONDIDO, CA — A pudu fawn, the world's smallest species of deer, was born over the weekend at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, officials announced Wednesday.
The female fawn has already begun exploring her habitat with her mother, Posey, and is showing "an adventurous and confident personality," according to park officials.
Native to South America, pudus remain small even as adults, typically standing 13 to 17 inches tall, which is about knee height on a human.
