• Pleasanton Man Pleads No Contest In Fatal 150 MPH San Ramon Crash (patch.com) — San Ramon readers are learning that a Pleasanton man has pleaded no contest to multiple felonies in connection with a high-speed, alcohol-related crash on Crow Canyon Road that killed a Castro Valley nurse last November. The case, handled in Contra Costa County Superior Court, details speeds over 150 mph in San Ramon and sets an Oct. 15 sentencing date while the defendant remains jailed on $1.2 million bail.

• SRVFPD fire reduction projects on Mount Diablo get $2M from state (danvillesanramon.com) — San Ramon's fire protection district is receiving $2 million in state funding to strengthen wildfire defenses in and around Mount Diablo, one of the region's most fire-prone areas. The money will support fuel breaks and defensible space projects designed to slow fires and protect neighborhoods. Local leaders say the work will begin before the next fire season to improve year-round preparedness.
