Eastbound Hancock Expressway closed at Union/Hancock interchange near South Circle Drive for traffic crash (krdo.com) — Drivers in Colorado Springs should avoid eastbound Hancock Expressway at the Union/Hancock interchange, where a crash has fully closed the eastbound lanes and is slowing westbound traffic as well. Colorado Springs Police reported the collision around 5:30 p.m., and congestion is backing up onto South Circle Drive while crews work the scene and urge motorists to use alternate routes.
   

2. Colorado Springs approves new solar billing options with projected $38 average increase (thebadger.news) — Colorado Springs solar customers face big changes after City Council approved two new net‑metering options that Utilities projects will raise average residential bills about $38 a month compared with frozen 2027 rates. Starting April 1, 2027, new customers must choose between a Standard plan with time‑of‑use credits and no rollover or a Demand plan with demand charges but monthly credit rollover, while existing customers can stay on frozen rates until 2032.
   

3. Colorado Springs authorizes officials to complete below-market Valley Hi lease (thebadger.news) — Colorado Springs City Council has authorized officials to finalize a below-market lease at Valley Hi Golf Course with First Tee Southern Colorado, supporting affordable youth golf and life-skills programs. The nonprofit plans to demolish and rebuild the aging pool building at 610 Chelton Road, adding simulators, putting greens, and multipurpose space to expand opportunities for local kids and teens.
   

4. Colorado Springs authorizes $1.4 million Buena Vista land purchase for water project (thebadger.news) — Colorado Springs City Council has approved spending $1.4 million on 22.8 acres in Buena Vista to support the Homestake Water Project with Aurora, a key piece of the city's long-term water supply system. The land near the Otero Pump Station will store pipe, equipment, and temporary worker housing, with Colorado Springs Utilities covering about $750,000 already budgeted.
   

5. Senior DevSecOps Software Engineer at Boeing (boeing.com) — A new Boeing Senior DevSecOps Software Engineer role is open right here in Colorado Springs, offering a fully onsite position supporting the Protected Tactical Enterprise Service team. The job requires an active Secret clearance, strong cloud and Kubernetes experience, and offers a six-figure salary range plus robust 401(k) and benefits, with applications accepted through October 12.
