Absolutely Colorado: Weidner Apartment Homes shuts down operations for a day to help local non-profit (krdo.com) — More than 80 Weidner Apartment Homes employees shut down normal operations to spend a full day volunteering at Catholic Charities' Hunt Family Campus in Colorado Springs. Crews tackled landscaping, drainage, painting, and other maintenance projects, saving the nonprofit significant upkeep costs. Their work means more of Catholic Charities' budget can now go directly into programs serving local families.
   

2. Broncos success brings business boost to Colorado Springs sports card shops (kktv.com) — A Colorado Springs sports card shop is seeing a surge in demand and higher prices for Denver Broncos cards as excitement builds for the 2026 season. Nation of Cards' co-owner says Broncos merchandise, especially Bo Nix cards, is selling quickly and at a premium. If the team keeps winning, local collectors and this new Springs business could see an even bigger boost.
   

3. What is next for project taurus? (fox21news.com) — Colorado Springs residents should know that City Council has delayed its decision on appeals over the proposed Project Taurus data center until April 13, 2027, leaving the project's future uncertain. Developer Raeden says it has already invested over $10 million and will decide within weeks whether to keep pursuing the project, while neighbors continue raising concerns about noise, power use, and community impacts.
   

4. 2 CAL FIRE heroes honored at Colorado Springs memorial wall (actionnewsnow.com) — Colorado Springs recently hosted a national ceremony where firefighters, families, and honor guards gathered to add new names to the International Association of Fire Fighters Fallen Firefighter Memorial Wall. Two CAL FIRE heroes, Danny Cook and Jason Craig, were among those honored. The annual event turns the Springs into a place of remembrance for sacrifices made nationwide.
   

5. Mining museum hosting annual Oktoberfest (gazette.com) — Colorado Springs residents can head to the Western Museum of Mining & Industry Sept. 25-27 for the 14th annual Colorado Springs Oktoberfest, featuring Bavarian food, live German music, and contests. From dachshund races to beer, wine, mead, and schnapps tasting "Schule" sessions, plus a baking competition and costume games, the festival offers a full weekend of activities for all ages.
