District leaders say the approach protects equity, since not all Denver families have reliable internet or devices, and it ensures every student gets the same break from class when winter weather makes travel unsafe.
   

2. Denver cleaners fire displaces employees, damages 3,000 garments (kdvr.com) — A long-time Moore Cleaners location at Downing and Evans in Denver is closed after an Aug. 26 fire damaged the building and about 3,000 garments, displacing 12 employees. The owner is relocating staff where possible, expects rebuilding to take six months to a year, and a GoFundMe is helping support workers and recovery efforts.
   

3. Denver Police Department changes street racing enforcement efforts after multiple takeovers throughout Denver (denver7.com) — Denver police have revamped how they respond to street racing and takeover events citywide, upgrading 911 call priority and pulling in officers from multiple districts to react faster. Since January, the department reports dozens of arrests and impounded cars, but leaders acknowledge the tougher stance diverts resources from other needs and increasingly rely on resident videos and tips to track offenders.
   

4. Denver International Airport holiday travelers urged to plan for extra time to navigate construction (9news.com) — If you're flying out of Denver International Airport this Labor Day weekend, expect big crowds and construction that could slow you down, especially around the Great Hall and terminal bridges. Airport officials urge Denver-area travelers to arrive early, get dropped at the correct terminal, and check FlyDenver for real-time parking and TSA wait times so you're not caught off guard.
   

5. Denver suspends Nativ Hotel & Gatsby Social's licenses again, citing violence and unlicensed security (9news.com) — Denver has again shut down Nativ Hotel & Gatsby Social's liquor, cabaret, and food licenses, citing repeated violence, unlicensed security, and failure to meet food-service rules at the downtown spot. The emergency order follows earlier fire-code problems and recent incidents including a shooting and a large altercation, and a new hearing will decide whether the licenses are permanently revoked.
