• Avon Pet Food Company Recalls Dog Food After 3 Dogs Fall Ill (patch.com) — An Avon-based pet food maker, Oma's Pride on Arch Road, is recalling a specific lot of its frozen Woof Complete Canine Chicken Recipe after Salmonella was found and three dogs became ill. Local pet owners should immediately stop using bags labeled lot BB012729, safely dispose of them, sanitize bowls and storage containers, and contact their vet if pets show symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, or lethargy.
   

• Wolcott Tech looks to continue positive growth (collinsvillepress.com) — Lewis Mills/Wolcott Tech's football co-op is aiming to build on last year's progress, including a season-ending win over Avon that snapped a four-game skid against the Falcons. The Spartans return key starters, have a larger roster and staff, and will host Avon/St. Paul on November 20, giving local fans another chance to see this growing rivalry.
   

• Palm Beach Obituaries-August 22, 2026 (bocaratontribune.com) — Among several recent Palm Beach–area obituaries is William "Poppy" Merlino, 93, who lived in Avon after previously residing in Jupiter, Florida. He passed away August 18 at his Avon home, which he shared with his daughter Noelle, and is remembered for a long life that began in New York and included a career in structural architecture.
