1 Dead In Somers Shooting
Troopers found a person with apparent gunshot wounds after responding to South Road around 4 a.m. Tuesday.
SOMERS, CT — One person was found dead with apparent gunshot wounds and a second person was detained Tuesday morning as Connecticut State Police investigate a homicide on South Road.
Troopers from Troop C in Tolland responded around 4 a.m. after receiving a report of a “suspicious incident,” according to a State Police news release.
Troopers found one person with apparent gunshot wounds. The person was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A second person was found at the scene and detained as part of the investigation. Police did not identify either person or say whether the detained individual had been arrested or would face charges.
Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public. The Eastern District Major Crime Squad, a specialized State Police unit that investigates serious crimes in eastern Connecticut, responded to the scene.

A WFSB crew saw several state police cruisers outside the property around 6 a.m. The station also reported that a trooper was positioned on Parker Road behind the home and that police tape had been placed across the driveway.
State police described the investigation as being in its early stages and “active, fluid and ongoing.” Additional information was not immediately released.
