Veterans & Families Legacy Park – Community Update & Awareness Initiative

Dear Community Members and Supporters,

The Somers Veterans & Families Legacy Park Ad Hoc Committee, in partnership with the Legacy of Service: Somers Veterans Foundation Inc., is pleased to provide an update on the continued progress of the Legacy Park initiative.

This project remains a long-term community effort dedicated to honoring the service, sacrifice, and legacy of Somers veterans and their families through the creation of a permanent memorial and community space.

We are currently in an active fundraising and development phase, working to advance project planning, stakeholder coordination, and campaign infrastructure in support of the Legacy Park initiative.

At this time, our efforts are focused on:

• Capital campaign development and organizational fundraising structure
• Project planning and coordination with professional stakeholders
• Community awareness and engagement initiatives
• Volunteer and partnership development opportunities

As part of our phased approach, we are beginning awareness outreach now, while formal local fundraising solicitations will be introduced after the upcoming 250th commemorative celebration, in alignment with community programming and engagement planning.

This approach ensures that early outreach focuses on education, transparency, and visibility, while formal local fundraising efforts are launched at the appropriate community milestone.

We also hope to expand public awareness efforts through participation in upcoming community events, including a proposed informational exhibit at the 4 Town Fair in September. If approved, we look forward to sharing project information, answering questions, identifying volunteer opportunities, and engaging with community members about the vision and progress of the Somers Veterans & Families Legacy Park.
