Man Found Guilty Of Murder In Fatal Shooting In Hamden (patch.com) — A New Haven man has been convicted of murdering 38-year-old John Williams of Hamden, who was ambushed and fatally shot while sitting in his car at his grandmother's Hamden home in 2022. The case, investigated by Hamden police with state and federal support, ended in multiple felony convictions, with sentencing set for November in New Haven Superior Court.
   

2. Cupo helps power Quinnipiac past Marist in 2-1 victory (quchronicle.com) — Quinnipiac women's soccer edged Marist 2-1 in Hamden, with senior forward Morgan Cupo scoring a late winner that extended her goal streak to four straight games. The Bobcats leaned on strong defense, timely video review, and Cupo's conference-leading scoring form, and now quickly turn around to host Merrimack at the Quinnipiac Soccer & Lacrosse Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
   

3. Fontana Brings New Haven Lessons To Hamden (patch.com) — Hamden's new economic development chief, Steve Fontana, outlines ambitious plans to reshape Dixwell and Whitney Avenues, revive the town center, and redevelop vacant industrial sites, including the former Leed Himmel plant. He describes upcoming housing like the High Meadows project, potential transit upgrades, and improvements to neighborhoods such as Whitneyville and Newhall/Highwood, emphasizing walkability, public art, and better connections to the Farmington Canal trail.

The cafe offers games, arts, drumming, and conversation for people with dementia and their caregivers, while also giving students hands-on experience supporting older adults in a welcoming, judgment-free space.
   

5. After 118 years, New Haven hat shop closed for now as family works out future (nhregister.com) — A long-running New Haven hat shop, DelMonico Hatter, has posted conflicting signs about whether it is permanently or temporarily closed, leaving its future uncertain as family members negotiate. For Hamden residents, the shop's closure notice directs customers to Holland Hats in Hamden, run by a DelMonico cousin, who says he may even take over the New Haven store if it reopens or is sold.
