📰 News we're reading

• Suffield BOE Approves Up To $100K For Bridge Repairs (patch.com) — Suffield residents will see up to $100,000 in school funds directed toward repairing the bridge linking Suffield High School with the Agricultural Extension property, a key route for the Agriscience program. The Board of Education narrowly approved using its non-lapsing fund while the town covers the remaining cost, and district finances are still expected to end the year with a small surplus.

• CT Supreme Court clears way for cannabis processing at Suffield hemp facility (hartfordbusiness.com) — A Connecticut Supreme Court ruling means a hemp processor on South Grand Street in Suffield can now grow and process cannabis at its longtime former tobacco site, despite town objections. Justices found the shift from hemp to cannabis doesn't materially change the property's nonconforming industrial use, though Suffield can still tightly regulate cannabis businesses in other zones and situations.
