• Flock Camera 'Hits' Lead Police To Missing 90-Year-Old Vernon Man On Long Island (patch.com) — A 90-year-old Vernon man with dementia who left town Thursday morning was safely located that night in his car on Long Island, thanks in part to Flock license-plate cameras pinging his vehicle's movements. Vernon police tracked "flock hits" for hours after his car was spotted in Springfield, Massachusetts, and say the camera network was crucial because he did not have a cell phone.
   

• Serious car crash into utility pole in Vernon sends injured person to trauma center (darientimes.com) — A serious single-car crash at West Street and Dailey Circle in Vernon Saturday night sent one occupant to a local trauma center after their vehicle struck a utility pole hard enough to shift it from its base. Vernon firefighters, emergency services, and an AMR medic from Rockville responded quickly, and residents may notice damage and possible utility work in that intersection area.
   

• Southington man sentenced to 40 months in prison for sexually assaulting minor (ctpost.com) — A Southington man has been sentenced in Vernon's Rockville Superior Court to 40 months in prison and 10 years of probation for sexually assaulting a minor he met on Snapchat in 2020. Prosecutors highlighted the victim's courage in reporting the assault immediately and testifying in detail, saying the sentence underscores accountability in sexual assault cases.
