1. Piece of steel from World Trade Center finds permanent home at the DC Fire Academy (dcnewsnow.com) — A new 9/11 memorial featuring a piece of World Trade Center steel is now permanently installed at the DC Fire Academy in Washington and open to the public at the front entrance. Fire officials hope the display will teach current and future firefighters about courage, sacrifice, and the responsibilities that come with the profession while giving residents a powerful place to reflect on the attacks' 25th anniversary.
   

2. 5 minors apprehended after police chase in stolen vehicle (fox5dc.com) — Five minors were taken into custody in Washington after U.S. Park Police say they fled a traffic stop in a stolen car on DC-295, briefly striking a cruiser before being stopped with a PIT maneuver. The youths ran from the vehicle near Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling but were all apprehended without reported injuries and taken for standard medical evaluations.
   

3. Nationals' late rally upends Angels, halts 7-game slide (statenews.net) — The Washington Nationals finally snapped their seven-game skid at home with a late three-run rally in the eighth, capped by Jorbit Vivas' clutch two-run double. CJ Abrams, James Wood, and Brady House all played key roles as Washington edged the Angels 4–3, giving local fans a much-needed boost heading into the rest of the series.
   

4. Step Afrika's 'Fruits of Our Labor' at Arena Stage is the 250th we needed (dctheaterarts.org) — Step Afrika!'s new show "The Fruits of Our Labor" is running now at Arena Stage's Fichandler Stage in Southwest Washington with performances through November 1 and tickets starting at $47. The DC-based company uses stepping, powerful imagery, and reflections on American history and voting rights to create an 80-minute, no-intermission experience that local audiences can join in person, with several discount programs available for Southwest residents and others.
